International Freedom Awards 20th Anniversary

CCoM October: Coleman A Young, Detroit MI
This months community center takes us to the motor city of Detroit, MI! C.A. Young Community Center is located in northeast Detroit. The center has been serving the community for nearly 30 years and is named after the city’s 1st African American mayor and outspoken politician, Coleman A. Young. If you are ever in between Vernor and Lafayette, take a minute to visit the center and volunteer to help!
CCoM September: John C. Birdine, Atlanta GA
In the heart of southwest Atlanta, John C. Birdine Neighborhood Center is a cornerstone of the community. The staff serves a 77% Black American population with a facility the community enjoys frequenting. Birdine offers a variety of services ranging from day care to youth and social services programs. If you live in SWATS, step in and help out!
CCoM August: Lester CC, Memphis TN
Lester Community Center located in East Memphis, TN serves a 55% Black community with a wide range of activities and programs. The educational program is very popular among school age children with ‘Homework Help’ and ‘Read to Succeed’ programs.
